"I love to cook, and I love food", says Cheree, "so it nearly broke my heart when Douglas (Dr. Douglas Mizzi - nutritionist and allergy specialist) gave me the list of foods that were responsible for my headaches, rashes and other seemingly un-fixable ailments."

At first, like all people who discover they suffer from food allergies or food intolerances, Cheree thought that the days of eating and cooking for enjoyment were long gone. With her three grown children dropping in for dinner, and a husband that loved his wife's cooking, even more depressing than not eating her favourite meals, was the prospect of cooking them up for everyone else!

The first step was discovering exactly what ingredients were in everything that Cheree could and could not eat. Soon, it became a fine art when wandering the supermarket, she could spot a edible (or non-edible) item at fifty paces!

Once the (at first small, but steadily growing) list of ingredients were accumulated, Cheree started to experiment - what did this taste like, and what could she use it instead of?

Cheree soon realised that many of her favourite tried and true recipes could be altered to simply take out the things that made her ill, and replaced with other items. This, along with a few lucky accidents along the way, resulted in her first book, Who Said I Can't Eat That?

"I wanted to create something that EVERYONE could use and benefit from", Cheree found that so many "specialty recipe books" relating to food intolerances and allergies (whilst very informative) were often complicated and confusing. Many had a number of symbols that you had to check for before trying a recipe. Therefore, some recipes were dairy-free, others sugar free, others gluten free, etc. Cheree wanted to create recipes that were free of almost all trouble foods. So, a person who had a gluten intolerance could eat the same meal as one with a dairy allergy, or a person who had multiple intolerances would have a problem preparing and eating a meal, and so on!

Who Said I Can't Eat That? contains 40 recipes including sauces, dressings, dips, soups, main meals (chicken, fish, pork and beef) and delicious sugar-free and low sugar desserts. Each recipe is easy to follow and simple to prepare. Cheree has also included a fabulous summary on herbs and spices and their uses, which can be used as a natural means to create all the flavours you love.
